The Community Fit team will be taking part in Total Warrior at Bramham Park near Wetherby to
raise funds for Artizan International. The team consists of ten members of Community Fit, an
organisation which aims to give back to the community whilst getting fit. This social running group
has volunteered to support Artizan with a number of activities over the past two years and two
members of the group are regular volunteers at the Café in Harrogate, having found out about it via
the Community Fit group.
Janet Ross accompanied Artizan to Peru to build their café and workspace for sight impaired
individuals and is passionate about the work of Artizan overseas, she is raising funds for the Peru
project having been inspired by her work there in 2023.
Nicola Richmond said: “I really admire the way Artizan bring together global relationships to give
purpose and income to groups that may not be supported in own countries. Our local cafe is an
uplifting place that is always a treat to visit. The values are clearly on display”
The team will be running, climbing, wading and jumping around a course full of obstacles, mud,
water and general unpleasantness on 22 June 2024. They are all social runners rather than serious
athletes and this event is going to test them. However, they are determined to raise as much as
possible to support Artizan’s work.
Please give as much as you can to support them. Your donations make a huge difference to our
work and knowing that they will make a difference to so many people will keep them all slogging
through that mud.
Artizan International enables, empowers and supports people with disabilities to meet their full potential, through therapeutic craft activities and social enterprise, in the UK and the developing world. Find out more here
