About us

Artizan International enables, empowers and supports people with disabilities to meet their full potential, through therapeutic craft activities and social enterprise; in the UK and the developing world.

Our key activities:

In the UK: We run weekly therapeutic craft workshops for adults with disabilities in Yorkshire (currently Harrogate, Ripon and Leeds), particularly people who are socially isolated and lack opportunities to meet others and learn new skills. Plus, we provide much-needed therapeutic activities for long-term hospital inpatients.

Overseas: We are working at a grassroots level to establish crafts-based social enterprises in Ecuador and Peru, to provide training and employment for disabled people living in extreme poverty and social isolation. Please see our website to find out about how we're transforming the lives of the differently-able people we're working with.

At Artizan International we believe passionately in empowering differnetly-able people to reach their full potential: through creative skills and activities, through relationship-building, through healing the divide in communities between the “able” and the perceived “disabled” by increasing interaction between them, thus reducing loneliness and the feeling of invisibility amongst differently-able people and giving them opportunities to shine, thereby transforming attitudes towards differently-able people in their communities.
